2016 Fall Update
CANINE* POULTRY* HORSES * CREATIVE OPTIONS* and MORE!!
The Rawhides held our first meeting on Friday, Sept 23. This will be our 30th year of operation in Springbank. We have members interested in canine, poultry horses as well as a few members interested in creative options this year. We are looking for additional members to join our club.
We are accepting members with most project interests as long as there is leadership/parental
help to support the project.
Our horse members had a Saturday fun ride to meet everyone else at the Springbank Equestrian park on Saturday October 1st. Our canine members will be meeting later in October to organize their clinic schedules with their instructors.
4-H is one of the best youth groups in the province. Members learn individual project skills as well as communication, record keeping, meeting management, meet new friends and in general just have fun.
4-H offers a wide range of District, Regional and Provincial activities including fun days and winter and summer camps.
Our next meeting with be in conjunction with our Halloween party on Friday, October 28, starting at 6:30 P.M. at the Springbank Equestrian Park. We will be holding a riding clinic on October 29th.

The Springbank Equestrian Society consists of 5 member clubs consisting of Calgary Western Riders, Springbank Rawhides 4-H Club, Sarcee pony Club, Polocrosse Calgary and Rocky Mountain Polocrosse & Horsemanship Club.

Calgary Western Riders is a Gymkhana club that is dedicated to promoting fun, family, safety and enjoyment for both horse and rider of all ages and experiences level. We facilitate the pursuit of equine activities in a family oriented and relaxed atmosphere and encourage good sportsmanship and horsemanship. We also promote the conservation of western principals and preservation of our long and colorful club History. CWR have been operating for over 50 years in the Springbank aarea.
The club holds 5 gymkhanas at the equestrian park over the summer as well as other equine events.

Springbank Rawhides 4-H Club has been the local 4-H club in Springbank for close to 30 years. Primarily an equine club, we have had other non livestock projects poultry, canine, crafts and photography. Our Light Horse members ride western or English and learn all aspects of riding and care and safety. 4-H is a world wide organization. 4-H stands for Head Heart Hands and Health.

Sarcee Pony Club has also had a long history in the West Calgary/Springbank area. Part of the Canadian Pony Club, leadership offers instruction on stable management, dressage, jumping and cross country. The club also participates in tetrathlon and PPG (Prince Phillip Games) Pony club is for children ages 7-21 ears.

Polocrosse Calgary is an action-packed, team sport; Lacrosse on Horseback club. Polocrosse is a family oriented sport with grades to cater all levels from novice through to highly experiences and competitive riders. Polocrosse is unique in that it is a sport in which the entire family can play at one event, often on the same team Polocrosse is open to all age groups. The club practice weekly and play in Tournaments and Jackpots. Any horse can be used with the exception of a Stallion. Australian Stock horses and Thoroughbreds about 15 Hands in height are generally used.

Rocky Mountain Polocrosse and Horsemanship Club is a fun club dedicated to both the sport of Polocrosse and enjoys trail riding and other equine events. The club promotes general horsemanship. Club is open to members of all age groups.
